Definition Delusion
Definition Delusion
When Hollywood claims to despise censorship, it speaks a lie for the simplest and silliest of reasons - the strange half blind misdefinition of a word. Hollywood defines the word censorship thus: disallowing or disavowing content. With its fragmented half conscious word usage, the human mind plays a trick on itself - pretending to speak objectively and summarily while, in fact, speaking only with regard to that portion of the whole about which one allows oneself to be conscious.
Hollywood believes its definition of the word to be: disallowing or disavowing content. Hollywood - when considering the matter habitually, generally, clicheishly, believes in all content - for example, when it defends its own adaptation of NK's book, The Last Temptation of Christ.
But when we observe its response to Mel Gibson's film of Jesus, we see definition delusion at work.
When the Germany of the early 20th Century was considered, and considered itself, to be a profoundly civilized, cultured and humanistic zeitgeist and mien, it spoke a lie for the simplest and silliest of reasons - the strange half blind misdefinition of a word. Weimer defined the word human thus: all people except Jews.
With its fragmented half conscious word usage, the human mind plays a trick on itself - pretending to speak objectively and summarily while, in fact, speaking only with regard to that portion of the whole about which one allows oneself to be conscious.
Weimer believes its definition of the word human to be: people. That is, Weimer - when considering the matter habitually, generally, clicheishly, believes in all people - for example, in the endless philosophies, poetries, Wagnerisms and textual criticisms it gushes forth. It is like a waterfall trying to flee its own effluvius source.
And now, in our culture, be see the same half-blind definition delusion. People speak of Compassion... Justice... Peace... Fairness...
But what is meant is compassion for those I recognize as in need of compassion...
Justice with regard to the forms of injustice upon which I like to concentrate...
Peace, primarily as my opposition to a war that is carried on by an administration I oppose...
Fairness to me, and to those who are in my loyalty clique.
Folks, enough with the self-deluding rhetoric. We are all driven by self-interest of one sort or another.
